My Perception of the Old and New Generation

Old generation is the foundational generation of the current existing generation , probably it is hallowed by traditional practices, old ways of thinking, simplicity in the craft and art material used.
Old generation of learners has obtained information in a linear, logical and sequential manner. As a positive side, this has made them more logical, focused, and reflective thinkers. In addition, they are excellent in  concentration, they solve one problem at a time, they are not easily disturbed by any kinds of noise or barriers in their surroundings. They are not easily bored even in a boring subject.
They are a group of individuals born and living contemporaneously.
On the other hand new generation is so called newly emerge society, it is named out from the prior or existing reality. Basically, having the advancement or craft of technology and medias.
Moreover, new generation of learners spend much time talking with friends on their cellphones, sending text messages, interacting through social internet media like Facebook , playing video games and surfing the World Wide Web.
There is also the phenomenon of the young or new generation taking on the multitasking as they performed the task simultaneously: watching video, chatting online, downloading pictures, and music, surfing the web, etc.
They follow a personal random access to hyper-linked digital information, less superior to elders is focus and reflection. Thus, they appear to be easily bored and distracted during class lectures.

Bridging the Gap of Students of Generation
Y and Z in the Future

Students are varied in ways of learning, they have different intelligences that makes them  unique individual. It is in the hands of the teacher on how he or she develops the potentialities of the students. A student may founded his or her ability to comprehend either by the use of traditional or modern media.
Now speaking the learners in generation Y although they grown up in good times but technologies are not that available, mostly they learn from traditional style of teaching, they hands on materials but not the advance technology like we have now. Or they know the technology but not that adept compare to the new generation.
Students in generation Z are exposed in what so called high technology, they are sophisticated in using the computers, gadgets and machines, they can manipulate different technologies easily or with no hesitation.
Moreover, I can still intertwine the two generation telling them that both new and old medias are functional, both materials from old and new are important and there's no lesser than the other, in fact medias from the old were developed and now we have the emergence of new technology.
In handling the class, I should alternately use the traditional and the modern media wherein my students will be able to understand the importance of both medias. No bias, no comparison, but using them in its best.

"Handling Generation Z as a Future Teacher"

I do believe that teacher is the repertoire of best teaching practice he/she is serving as positive and powerful role model of values in the pursuit of different efforts to learn.
As a teacher in the future knowing that generation Z are those learner/s who were born 20th century onwards which also in this time technologies were highly developed and available to be used.
I as a future teacher must know how to use this things and be equipped with the knowledge of how these technologies function, including their advantages and disadvantages. Knowing how to use different technologies, I in teaching could impart the learning by the use of them, integrating them in the discussion, assignments, projects, etc..
Integrating the use of technology in class is a way of meeting students' expectations, with that, students are more motivated to listen, learn and grow.
As a teacher, it is my sole responsibility to guide the students in their learning. I should also teach them to be cautious in using the technology, that technology must not be the reason for them to be sloth, too much dependent on them and especially it should not abuse their time to have a leisure outside.
Moreover, I should be like the mother hen who guides its chicks in searching for food and if she already found the food she will first check if it is edible or not. If it is edible, she will let her chicks eat it.
This is the true essence of education when we are not just only teaching the lesson but also to teach what the lesson has taught us.
